Not even close.

Anybody who thinks this is the worst season ever must be about seven years old.

West Ham's 'traditions' were set up for pre PL, once the PL came to being those traditions became unaffordable and we had non ambitious tight owners who just wanted to be on the curtain tails of the big league money and non cherry pick decent footballers or be able to keep excellent youth talent for their careers.

That was the worst for me, the realisation that we wouldn't be able to build a team that played for us for the longterm with a certain ethos right through the club.i knew what happens now would stay forever more unless you can match decent players ambitions and their wage demands for that time.

This is a transition season

Im not quite sure what all the fuss is about.

The stadium will seem a lot more like home over time. It's all going to be fine.

Just wish the owners weren't such cheapakates

I was at Wigan away relegated the same as at Coventry before...and there have been many years of suffering much worse than now .....so to me struggling this season is just normal. Over achieving last year and occasionally before always gives false hope.... I think the essence is in the song

It was for a CL match, Johnson.

There's plenty of stuff you can find through google. Like this after Palace last season.

http://talksport.com/football/man-united-old-trafford-official-attendance-75000-were-30000-fans-dressed-seats

"The police data shows the average Old Trafford attendance is 10,000 fewer than the figures announced."

TBH, it doesn't bother me too much, but they can improve it by not letting people buy kids ST's tickets they aren't using. All they care about is getting the ticket money though, so it's down to the fans to turn up.

Considering the absolute dogshit Bilic has served up this season, our gates are pretty good.

Re: Is this the worst period in WHUFC history?
Other than league cup games against shite, when have the Mancs ever been 20k shy?

We know our attendances this season, which Manc games do you have figures for?

The issue with us is why attendances have been shit since the Juventus and Europa League games, NOBODY guessed we'd be poor but I reckon thousands decided the stadium wasn't for them.

Man United 20k short 😂

Johnson 4:55 Mon May 1

Not really. As I pointed out when discussing the difference from tickets sold to actual attendees we are no different than other teams, even Man Utd who had been 20k+ short at times.

Filling every seat wasn't a prerequisite for moving, nor was it for UP's redevelopment, which also took time to fill regular.

Our gates versus the capacity of the stadium are very worrying indeed AMA.

Re: Is this the worst period in WHUFC history?
Surely the bond scheme, Tevezgate and several relegations are worse than this?

We've moved to a new stadium, survived the French snake and are still a PL team.

Not much of a choice, surely?

theaxeman 4:14 Mon May 1
Re: Is this the worst period in WHUFC history?
mad

I think this is worse than bond scheme personally at least we were together as fans during that on the whole.

Re: Is this the worst period in WHUFC history?
Our gates have just risen to record levels, and we are in the top 20 richest teams in Europe on turnover. Not even close to a bad period, let alone worst.

It is, however, the biggest redefining moment for the club, as fans idealogy into the values of what makes West Ham has been called into question through the move. The resulting divide in opinion on club values/football tradition and ambition has been disappointingly overwhelming and unsettling, and we are struggling to adapt to becoming the bigger club we potentially can become.

Re: Is this the worst period in WHUFC history?
Think most posters are looking at the team and performances.
Thought this thread was about "the period", hence I see this as our darkest days by a country mile and what we have been moved into and feeling vulnerable and exposed in a rented multi purpose arena and that we are losing our fans in droves as they have had enough. I put the fans, which are the club, above the team.

Football wise, we have definitely had much worse seasons than this.

Re: Is this the worst period in WHUFC history?
You dont remember a time where the club had it's Heart ripped out and alienated by the board?

1991/1992 bond scheme

And This doesn't even come close to the bond scheme days

theaxeman 3:09 Mon May 1
Re: Is this the worst period in WHUFC history?
We have definitely had worse times on the pitch but i don't remember us ever having the heart ripped out of the club and being alienated by the board like this season. Also we have been plonked in an unfit stadium and lied to about its suitability. I would say thats quite bad.

Re: Is this the worst period in WHUFC history?
No. Not in the slightest.

I might revisit this answer in the unlikely event we get relegated. Even then though, I am sure we'll come right back up.

Re: Is this the worst period in WHUFC history?
Given that the club is now 121 years young and you would have to have been at least 16 in 1895 to remember anything tangible. I would say that only Ted Fenton would be in a position to comment.

This is a reasonably successful season compared to much of what we've been through.
